Everyone who owns a Macbook Pro will tell you that it gets so hot you can fry an egg on it. After 2 laptops and years of agony I finally look into the possibility of a cooling pad. I looked at some with fans and some without. Almost bought one in Apple Store without a fan for $60 bucks (for the nice design).
It is really really worth the money. I have no experience with other pads so can’t help you compare. But this really cools off my MBP. My MBP remains cool even when watching videos. The design is nice and matches my laptop. You can hear a small fan sound but is unnoticeable if you have music or TV sound around you. Another thing I really like is it elevates the laptop. Having the screen at eye level really helps me read sites for some strange reason. I would recommend it for anyone.
One thing I wish it does is a way for me to adjust height.
