    Horrible
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Bought this laptop during black Friday – for my wife.

    Issues:

Problems at first charging it – light wouldn’t come on.

Next, it wouldn’t start up – even with the battery out of the machine.

Weight – heavy, big screen (16 inches adds weight)

Would not buy this one again. After speaking with a local computer pro as well as an HP rep at a local Best Buy, have decided that this laptop is a lower end computer that HP skimped on Quality controls.

    Do not recommend!

Decent low-power computer, with a bad side
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
My girlfriend purchased a similar G60 laptop about 3 months or so ago. It did ordinary tasks just fine, and she was OK with what it could do, considering the price. However, a few days ago she opened the lid and saw a line running down the screen. We did a reboot, to see if it was just a video driver glitch or some such. The line remained for days and it became pretty obvious something major was going on. Googling around I have found quite a number of people with G60 laptops reporting similar issues. When people have sent the laptops in to HP they’ve been told that issue was ‘customer inflicted damage’ and offered to fix it for $450. Most people brought up the warranty because this seems to be happening a few weeks or few months after purchase, but HP tells them that screen issues are exempt from the warranty and in any case basically ‘you broke it, its not a defect’.

If you’re curious about this, just google around to find these reports. Had I known about this when we were shopping we would have purchased another model, maybe even one from a different company.

    If you’re buying this laptop, you’re making a gamble…

    Corrupted Windows 7 software-maybe
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Had the computer approximately 2 weeks and updates wouldnt install. After about 7 hours on the phone with INDIA and countless recovery operations I was told that the initial operating Windows 7 software was probably corrupted-MAYBE. They would send me a box via Fed ex to return the machine and I would probably have it in 2 weeks. Not bad for a brand new machine!!! They should have sent me a brand new one. Very disappointed.

    Great Computer for Great Price
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have this computer for a few months now and it has work perfectly. Runs fast and has all the memory you need for small personal computer replacement. Was able to take advantage of amazon’s lightening deal and save a bundle. The whole family has used this computer and we have had no problems. I like the battery power that doesn’t dim the screen if you don’t have it plug’d in. Battery life is ok at 2-3 hours for mainly general use.

    I would recommend this computer.

    HP Review
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This paticular laptop so far is working great except, I realize if I copy an image and set it as my wallpaper and “tile” the image then close or shut down the laptop and then restart the comp. what I originally had tiled as an image is now strechted but if I go to change it back to tile it doesnt allow me too. So i find that you cant tile pictures that you want to set as your background. Also the battery life is not 3 1/2hrs long i get 2 1/2hrs long before I have too plug in again. I also find if you point to an object to click on sometimes the cursor or mouse jumps around alot enabling you to connect to what you really want to click on. But i must say that doesn’t happen too often.

But otherwise than that Im enjoying my laptop. I purchased this in November 2009. Thanks.

    Very pleased !!!!

I love this computer. It is my first laptop, purchased for everyday computing tasks like email and internet. It boots up and opens applications quickly. I even loaded my first Call of Duty PC game on it and it runs without issues. The keyboard feels great and the pointing device is smoother than many other models I tried in the store before purchasing from Amazon. It is a joy to sit back and use.

Great all around, especially HDMI output to 1080p TV
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is my favorite laptop computer since I owned my first one 10 years ago. I have had IBM, Acer, HP, and others. This one has met all my expectations and some at a great price.

The CPU that comes with this unit is the “base” T4300 with the Intel 4500M video card. Before I got the unit I was a little concerned that the system might not have enough horse power to run certain applications. After using it for 2 months, I have been so pleasantly surprised and impressed. I shoot a lot of photos in RAW and use Photoshop CS4 extensively. This laptop is more than able to handle multiple layers in large photo files.

One of the uses of my laptop is streaming online movies to my 52″ Sony LCD TV. Even though the laptop display resolution is only 1366×768, as soon as HDMI cable is connected to the TV the laptop screen will go dark and the display automatically switches to the native TV resolution, which is 1080p. Boy, everything looks so great on such a big screen. Streaming video looks quite acceptable to me if you ask.

The quality of the laptop is pretty good too. I like that the heat fan is whisper quiet. It’s a great purchase!!

A nice computer at a budget price
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I purchased this Windows 7-64 bit notebook to replace a crashed desktop. It’s nice enough that there’s a sleek design with its black case and aluminum touchpad and trim, but there’s a lot more “under the hood” of this budget-priced model. 4GB of installed DDR2 @SDRAM with 1MB of installed memory cache, a 320 GB hard drive and a 2.1 Ghz speed on its T4300 processor. The 1366 x 768 BrightView is crisp and clear with a 15.6 display size. The G60 weighs less than seven pounds yet has enough bells and whistles to perform like a desktop. In fact, I am using it as one with a purchased flat screen monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse.

    Ports/Connectors:

    3 USB 2.0

    RJ-11 modem

    RJ-45 LAN

    HDMI

    HDDB15 VGA

    headphone

    microphone

Additionally, there’s a webcam and a 5-in-one media reader (alas, not large enough for a compact flash card, but an external card reader solved the problem).

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit edition is pre-installed and took a little getting used to after my XP machines, but I think it ultimately will make home networking a much easier install as the system is quite intuitive.

This is my second HP computer and I am impressed with its performance. I especially like the software compatibility feature that allows me to run older programs in XP mode.

Gripes? Very few. The 5400 rpm drive speed seems a little slow after a 7200 desktop speed and I would not recommend it for serious games, however, for the beginner to average user, it’s a good solid machine.

    Recommended.

Not sure if its a great product. I got it for my wife, she is fine with it. I feel its a bit heavy.

Twice we faced a strange problem, the computer will just not turn on. I removed the battery and then reinserted it. It started working. Not sure if its a manufacturing defect or some user fault.

    Great laptop
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I have had no problems with this laptop since I bought it. I love the Windows 7 OS that comes on it. The only thing I dont like is how HP puts some of the uneeded software. Such as a limited version of Muvee Reveal, HP DVD Player, and other junkware. Even with the junkware it functions well. I recomend this model to someone who wants a everyday use laptop, but for someone who wants to play anything but basic games this may not be your system.

    HP G60-530
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’m very happy with the G60-530′s performance. It does everything it says it does. My only reservation is with the “Lightscribe” CD labeling that is supposedly built-in. Your supposed to insert the blank CD upside down to start the labeling program, whenever I do this, it just makes strange noises, it doesn’t seem right.

Other than that, everything else is great.

However, as great as Windows 7 says it is, and who knows, maybe it is, all I know is there are currently way too many hardware & software issues that cause problems with Windows 7 operating systems. Of course this isn’t HP’s problem, it’s not necessarily even Windows’ problem. I just with they would have designed Windows 7 to be a little more compatible with existing hardware/software.

    Audio and Microphone Problems G60-530US
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Started it up on Christmas day only to find it had serious audio problems.Everything is working great except the audio recording system is terrible. Using an external mic is OK, but he speakers are also lacking, not expected since they are altec lansing. Spent an hour online with HP service tech only to be told to return the unit. Otherwise unit is OK, very nice display and webcam, though I find teh speed a little slow.

Good computer but audio recording issues
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
I have had the computer for about 2 weeks now. Everything is working great except the audio recording system is terrible. I have tried the internal mic and an external mic and the audio recording is terrible. A friend purchased the same one for his brother and it too has terrible audio recording. He could barely hear me with skype. I went online and found out I am not the only one with this issue. I changed some settings and it is better but not great. People can now hear me when I skype but if I do an audio recording for some dvd projects I need to yell for the recording to be audible (plus it sounds like I am on a walkie talkie). I have tried everything and it still does not work well.

Overall ok computer but terrible audio recording issues.
